New Delhi: India’s prime higher
education centre, The University of Delhi, in an official statement has stated
that mathematics won't be required for admission to the four year Bachelor of Commerce
(Honors) programme from the upcoming academic session 2013-14.
As per the newly
launched Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP), admission in Commerce will
now be for Bachelor with Honors in Commerce from this year. Moreover, admission to this course will be
based on Discipline I (Commerce). Till last year, most colleges were not
accepting students in the B Com (Honors) programme without Mathematics. As a
result, a large number of students who had pursued commerce without Mathematics
in their class 12th were forced to get admission in different colleges.
Now, it has been
decided that requirement of Mathematics for all categories of students be
removed for admission to Bachelor with Honors in Commerce. Therefore, inclusion
of Mathematics will not be additional eligibility criteria for admission to
Bachelor this course. For more information, one can visit the official website of the University of Delhi: http://www.du.ac.in
